Seattle Photographer | A James Bond Inspired Shoot

The new James Bond movie is coming out soon on November 9th. It’s called Skyfall and it looks to be quite the thriller as Bond’s loyalty to M, the head of the Secret Intelligence Service, is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. Bond must track down the threat and destroy it as M16 comes under attack, no matter how personal the cost (IMDb). Skyfall stars include Daniel Craig as James Bond, Judi Dench as M, and many other fantastic actors such as Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, and Javiar Bardem.

A while back, Joey, who you see in the pictures below, approached me about a photo shoot. He wanted to do something a little different and exciting. Since Skyfall is coming out soon and Joey is a Bond fan, we decided to turn his shoot into a James Bond theme.

I did my best to give it a James Bond flair, but I also thought it was important to capture Joey’s personality and style. Joey put on a suit, we found a sweet car (2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS), we drove to an old building in Seattle, I brought in some off camera flash, and then the excitement began! Special thanks to Prescott for assisting me!

The only thing that seemed to be missing was a “Bond Girl” (or two). Perhaps we should do a round II with some bond girls. Any takers? Send me a message under the “Contact” tab at the top.

Seattle Photographer | What to Wear in Chilly Weather

“Oh the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

And since we have no place to go…”

Let’s go outside for a photo shoot!

Well it might be a little early for Christmas Carols, but it’s never too early to plan for a photo session for you and your loved ones this holiday season. It’s beautiful in Seattle during the fall and winter months, and dressing for the chilly weather can be fun as you bundle up to stay nice and warm.

Accessorizing is such a fun way to stay warm and look great doing it. There are so many options of hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, and boots out there to choose from. Below is one look that I would love for my client to wear and she would look great doing it.

Seattle Pet Photographer | Northwest Parrots Fund

If you don’t already know, Prescott Breeden of The Pawsitive Packleader and I have been putting together a pet portfolio for our new companion photography business called Packleader Photography. This joint venture was announced on Facebook a month or so ago, but a detailed annoucement will be coming soon once we officially publish our new website, hosted by the astonishing Showit.

A few weeks ago, Prescott and I spent an afternoon photographing some of the Northwest Parrots Fund’s amazing and absolutely gorgeous parrots. We had a great time getting to know each parrot as we photographed him or her, and I was amazed how each of them had his or her own unique personality. They constantly made us laugh as they stared into our lenses and revealed to us some of their quirky behaviors, such as Tillie, an Timneh African Grey, who enjoyed hanging upside down.

The Northwest Parrots Fund, founded and directed by Michael Ostrogorsky, Ph.D, is located in Seattle, WA and is a unique organization dedicated to the needs of parrots and all exotic birds. Their mission includes providing assistance and education to owners, finding long term homes when owners can no longer care for their companions, and providing emergency funds when re-homing parrots and exotic birds becomes necessary. They also work with local animal shelters and food banks to establish pet bird food banks across the Northwest.

Below is a sideshow of the parrots we photographed that day. These images are mine, but we will of course use both Prescott’s and my images in our Packleader Photography portfolio.

Below is a list of the parrots that were photographed in the sideshow:

Princess Tara: Hyacinth Macaw (Large Blue Parrot)

Roxanne: Greenwing Macaw (Red Parrot Outside)

Arua: Congo African Grey (With Red Tail)

Tillie: Timneh African Grey

Mr. Cracker: 45 Year Old Ruby Macaw (Missing Some Feathers)

Kid Kadra: Goffin’s Cockatoo (White Parrot)

Bubba Boy: Female Blue and Gold Macaw

If you are interested in finding more information about the Northwest Parrots Fund, visit their website or feel free to send them a message by clicking HERE.

Seattle Child Photographer | A Golden Morning

I met Mackenzie, her mom, and her brand new baby sister a few weeks ago to photograph her to announce the Gold Hope Project for my business. We had so much fun hanging out in Discovery Park that we took some extra time to photograph Mackenzie just being the pretty, silly, and vivacious 5 year old she is. 🙂

Mackenzie is turning 6 today and I just want to take a moment to wish her a very happy birthday!!! 😀

Happy Birthday Mackenzie! I hope you have an amazing day! 🙂

Seattle Photographer | Seasonal Blessings

A lot of people who have visited or live here in Seattle complain that it rains too much. To be honest, the rain never really bothers me. Instead, I have always felt very blessed to have grown up here. I love the sound of rain drops on my roof, I love bundling up to go outside, and the feeling of being warm inside when it’s chilly and wet outside never gets old.

This time of year is absolutely amazing when the trees turn to rich colors of yellow, orange, and red. I don’t think I will ever get over how beautiful it is and I like the dramatic change especially after a dry summer.

Fall also means that it’s time for pumpkin spice lattes and other drinks that warm one up from the inside out. This past weekend I enjoyed a cup of hot apple cider with some friends at Carlton Farms in Everett, WA. We wondered around their large pumpkin patch picking out pumpkins to carve. It was a great time and it made me appreciate the fall season even more.

My friend and outstanding photographer, Tara of Tara Colburn Photography, also wrote a blog post about this season. You can view it by clicking here. 🙂

What do you love about fall? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!

Apple cider! How could I forget about apple cider?! Mmmmm!

Beautiful photos, I’m jealous of those beautiful yellow trees.

Brandi KogutOctober 16, 2012 - 11:18 am

I love the promise of cooler weather, fire and wine nights with the girls, and scarfs. Oh, and pumpkin spice anything.

Patricia KnightOctober 16, 2012 - 11:50 am

Considering where I live (the desert) I love the cooler temperatures that finally come to the desert. And I’m still waiting for those cooler temps this season.

KristinaOctober 16, 2012 - 3:34 pm

I love EVERYTHING about fall!! 🙂

Danielle DuttaOctober 16, 2012 - 3:59 pm

Hurray for Fall in Seattle! (I agree, rain is nice.) Lovely fall photos, Ally!

Karen CooleyOctober 16, 2012 - 4:30 pm

Fall is fabulous!! I need to get my kiddos to the local farm for some pumpkin picking! It’s so much fun!!

ChristineOctober 19, 2012 - 1:21 pm

I agree, I love the rain too. It’s so soothing, especially to fall asleep to!
I’ve never seen such a variety of pumpkins – WOW!

Huong ForrestOctober 21, 2012 - 11:16 pm

You know, my hubby is from the Seattle area and I always told him I would never consider moving there. However, I’ve softened a bit with each visit to Seattle!
