Seattle Beauty and Glamour Photographer | Black & White

“There’s something strange and powerful about black-and-white imagery.” — Stefan Kanfer

I absolutely agree with the statement above. An image in black and white can be more powerful than any image I’ve ever seen in color before. Take for instance the image below. I love it in color, but after editing it in black and white, I like it in black and white even more. To me, it’s so striking and captivating. Her features, especially her eyes, jump off the screen even more.

When you book a session with Allyson Photography, you’ll receive many black and white images in your gallery in addition to all of them in color. I like to do creative edits like what you see below to offer my clients variety and provide them with a photography service unlike they have seen before.

Now go check out my friend and amazing photographer Huong of Huong Forrest Photography in Reno, Nevada. Her post today is also about black and white photography, and I look forward to reading it soon! Click HERE to check it out.

[…] Of course, when you’re done checking out the Vegas scenery below, be sure to stop by my friend Ally’s blog over there in Seattle!  I’m sure she’ll have a cool take on black & white at AllysonPhotography.com. […]

This is a great example of how powerful BW imagery can be. While the red in the left image is striking, it also competes for attention with her face. In the BW image, the viewer’s eye is drawn directly to the subject’s face (the most important part!)

Wow, Ally! Powerful conversion. I LOVE this image especially in BW!

That is awesome that you give your clients options and B&W is such a timeless, gorgeous way to preserve images too!

You are so right about this image in B&W. It looks amazing!

This image is so stunning, it makes it so difficult for me to pick which one is my favourite!
